Boater Education Course
NEW WATERCRAFT RENTAL SAFETY POLICY (ILLINOIS LAW)
All persons that will, or may, be operating the watercraft are required by law to demonstrate compliance with the Illinois Boating Safety Certificate requirements regardless of age. These include either (A) a copy, or copies, of a Boater’s Safety Education Card or (B) proof of completion of the Abbreviated Boater’s Safety Course. A copy of these documents must also be on board and provided in the event of law enforcement inspections.
Illinois law requires Pelican Bay Marina to maintain records including, but not limited to; a copy of Boater’s Safety Education Card or proof of completion of the Abbreviated Boater’s Safety Course. as well as name; date of birth, drivers license number and signature of all persons that will, or may, be operating the watercraft.
Please provide this documentation prior to, or upon, your arrival. If you need, or plan, to take the Abbreviated Safety Course at the Marina prior to your departure, please arrive at least one hour early. Pelican Bay Marina will not add rental time due to lack of proper documentation.
